MJF was absent from AEW programming this week following his Pipe Bomb promo.

MJF did not appear on AEW programming this week, leaving the wrestling world to wonder what's next for the 26-year-old.

On last week's edition of AEW Dynamite, MJF cut a blistering Pipe Bomb promo in which he called out his many critics and AEW President and CEO Tony Khan. At the end of the promo, the 26-year-old wrestler asked Khan to fire him. That obviously hasn't happened, and it's anybody's guess what will happen next.

AEW has since pulled all MJF merchandise from their online shop, and he's no longer listed on the company roster. Furthermore, the company removed MJF from their television intros.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscription required), Dave Meltzer noted that there's nothing "new on" the MJF front since his scathing promo. Meltzer added that MJF's AEW contract "definitely" goes through at least Jan. 1, 2024. Regarding the decision to remove MJF merchandise, Meltzer explained that AEW is "looking at short-term money and this is a long-game play", and that the company wants "people to think he’s gone."

Rumors of MJF's potential AEW departure have been ongoing for several months now. Back in March, it was reported that he and Khan engaged in a tense confrontation because MJF didn't receive permission rom company officials to do an interview with Ariel Helwani of ESPN.

MJF was also a no-show for a meet-and-greet event the day before the Double or Nothing pay-per-view, leading to speculation that he wouldn't be at the show. However, MJF ended up appearing at Double or Nothing, soundly losing his match to Wardlow.

If MJF decides to leave AEW after his contract expires, then keep an eye on WWE. Company chairman Vince McMahon reportedly has strong interest in MJF, and he's apparently willing to give the popular star a massive contract offer. Several weeks ago, MJF stated that he'd be interest in joining WWE if they offer him the right amount of money. And given his status as one of the top wrestlers in the world, why wouldn't Vince do just that?
